Midseason Meeting Notes

Happy New Year!

Many were unable to attend the midseason meeting due to other priorities, so I'd like to share all the information that was presented.

LOYALTY/VEGAS INFO

The most impactful news I have to share is 40+ will be offered a chance to represent us in Las Vegas at the BCAPL Championships March 23-April 2, 2022. That list can be found @ https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kHMLjRCs4QeSTjiH6nCNbaH3HmnBGNr62jk2gvSLjwQ/edit?usp=sharing

Anyone who was selected to go or has questions about the BCAPL Championships can find the event information @ https://www.playcsipool.com/2022-bcapl-world-championships.html

I will create a FAQ for the Vegas process shortly.

The teams that won the local Vegas tournament will receive 1k per person, up to 6 people. A small bump from last year and more than loyalty list in an effort to recognize their hard work/accomplishments winning the tournament.

Local series of Tournaments

There are two more tournaments in our monthly series, Feb 5th (Sat), March 13th (Sun). They start at Noon, doors open at 11am. Throughout the tournaments players have been awarded points that accumulate based on placing/performance. At the banquet approximately 1/4 of the field of players will be awarded prizes. The current list of prizes (subject to change) consist of Mike Bender cues, JB cases Leather and Rugged, James Hanshew custom FPA jump cues.

End of Season Playoffs

The end of seasons playoffs will be slightly different this year. The top half of each division will meet in a 4 week single elimination playoff for the Alder Cup! The bottom half teams will match-up in their own bracket for prizes as well.

Brackets will be seeded by record, top team from each division will be 1 and 2 seeds. Team with the better record will be the home team. Normal BCAPL/league rules apply except there is no coaching in tournaments.

Dates of play Tuesday: April 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th

Location permitting (having access to multiple tables) the Semi-Finals (April 19th) and Finals (April 26th) will be 5 rounds. If locations are limited to 1 table, 3 rounds will suffice.

BANQUET

The Annual Awards Banquet has been set for May 21st at Pioneer Park Building of the Arts (530 Happy Hour, 630 Dinner). Cutter Ragusa will be emceeing the event. We have added two more prizes for Most Break and Runs, and most Table Runs which will be equal to top shooter prizes (Mug +100 CASH). The prize list currently consists of Mike Bender cues, John Barton Cases (Leather & Rugged), James Hanshew custom Alaska FPA jump cues and playing cues, fuel gift cards, auto start gift cards, Bull Carbon fiber cues, custom T-shirt sweatshirts hats and beanies, McDermott Cues, Grand Denali package, Chena Hot Springs package, Milwaukee Tools, Anthony Beeler Platinum year of training course).

GRAND PRIZES

We are currently aiming for 5 GRAND PRIZES. When you enter the banquet you will receive 6 tickets. One for the standard door prizes, five for grand prizes. There will be a different bucket for each grand prize. You can choose to distribute your 5 tickets however you'd like. (ex: all in one, 2 in one 3 in another, 1 in each). Each prize will be awarded to a different member, if you were lucky enough to get chosen for two prizes, whichever was drawn first will be the prize you get (Congratulations!) and the second prize will be redrawn for someone else to win!

Captains: If you have any players that did not receive a jersey last year please reach out to the President with sizes and desired color.

If you have any ideas for other prizes you would like to add please call/text Seth, relay info through captain/board member or offer feedback on FPA website.

Next season will start earlier due to BCAPL being February 22-March 4, 2023. Season will start on Sept 13, 2021 with only 1 week off for Holiday break.

Season start - Sept 13th

Captains meeting - Sept 6th

Board Meeting - Aug 30th

Players/Members Meeting -Aug 23rd

Professional Events / Training

Another big announcement, we are negotiating with Money Match Promotions and others to get a few world class professional players up to Fairbanks to play matches against each other ($100k Race to 100) and offer clinics/exhibitions and possibly one-on-one training.

The Griffin Cup has set the play dates for April 22-24 @ Red Fox Bar & Grill. We are a major sponsor for the event. Ten of the best players in the state representing Anchorage or Alaska in a Mosconi Cup style 9 ball event. Tickets to the event will be available shortly.

If you know any local businesses that would like to sponsor the event and get some advertising in the process please let us know.

Charity

We will decide which non-profit charity and how much to donate shortly after the banquet. The new board/officers will make that decision.

If you would like to be a board member or officer position please reach out to myself or Jan to have your name put on the banquet ballot.

As always if you have any ideas on improving pool in our wonderful city please share them! We all look forward to seeing you at the banquet!
